Are any realtors out there actually making any money?
I am a new realtor just in the business one month today. I have 2 listings already and a few solid prospects for listings. But EVERY agent I have talked to has had discouraging comments about the lack of business, including my broker and only one other agent besides me even comes to the office! Is any other realtors out there making any money? Thanks!
Don’t feel bad, the market is really down right now but you have to find new ways to make money don’t just depend on the listings. Find buyers right now and also find people who want to lease and list lease rentals. Not as much money in it but better then nothing. Find buyers and you will be better off.

Negative people are everywhere, even in a up market. Smart people always make money. For example, in a down market, you should know short sales. Since short sales are dying in my market, I am looking into probate (since everyone dies!). Look at real estate as a solution to people’s problems and you will do fine. And yes, I make money and the best part of it is that I do so by helping people who really need an honest person in their times of trouble.
Surprisingly (maybe not) I get some business from here. I guess the saying of what goes around comes around is true.

my friend is a realtor and she told me it pick up around 2 months ago when FHA changed the guidelines and now it’s going to be tight because FHA is no longer allowing the seller tp pay the buyer down payment of 3%, she believes after the holidays the market is going to pick up some.
stay positive and give it a while remember you are just starting of.

18 homes sold in the past 3 months – 400k range and new homes. One just today. Yes, people are buying.
What you MUST understand is that realtors that feel that they are sales people will NEVER be successful. An agent needs to be a marketing person. They need to find out what the problems are and help solve them. Then the sale will follow.
When the market was hot, realtors just had to write contract. Today you have to work. It speaks volumes if the agents don’t even come into the office. If your Broker is negative, this shows that they don’t know how to help. FIND ANOTHER BROKER TODAY.
Remember, if you want to be successful, hang out with successful people. Otherwise, you will be sucked into their failures.
